I know I said I wouldn't be announcing every single Beyond the Black Throne update, but I figure it's worth it this time around. Partly that's because I think this chapter has some particularly amusing animation in it, partly because I'm considering posting some choice illustrations to dA and wonder how people would respond to that. I'm aware the style I'm using is not particularly ambitious, but the more I work on it the more I'm really starting to enjoy seeing how this is coming together. It's less about getting the pieces together to get "something" done and more about working on a couple of choice elements that will really add something. Case in point: this week's naked wizard piñata:
I hope that doesn't need a mature content warning or anything, because it's probably my favourite thing I've come up with for this series. It's hardly professional animation, but I think it's just plain funny enough to be noteworthy in its own right. I'm also hoping this kind of thing will introduce new readers to the series, which brings me to my next point.
The response to this so far has been fantastic. I haven't even really had to think about the wider plot because with the suggestions that have been coming in, it pretty much writes itself. However, I'm slightly concerned the volume of responses may not be enough to sustain it forever. If you've been following the story so far but haven't made a suggestion, don't be afraid to have your say! You don't need to have an account there or even leave an email address, so it's actually easier than commenting here on dA. Also, anything you can do to spread the word would be a huge help in making sure I can keep telling this story.

I want more!

Super Hyper Awesome Game: EXTREME!
Okay, I've been absent from dA over the past couple of years to the extent that half the reason I'm posting this is to direct anyone who might be reading it to my website for big news or Mastodon for smaller updates, but the other half is that I have a new game for you to enjoy! It's Super Hyper Awesome Game: EXTREME! and if you can snag the top spot on the leaderboard before noon on April 2nd London time, you've got a chance at a free copy of Hollow Knight! Or you can just play it for funsies. It has heavy metal and possums. You'll like it. Honest.
New Game: Rainbow Bears Fun Maze
Hello! It's been a while since I last posted anything here on dA - for a few years now I've not been particularly active outside of Flash Fiction Month each July- but I figured I'd drop by just for today to let you know about a new game of mine: Rainbow Bears Fun Maze. This is a fun, pleasant game containing absolutely no jumpscares whatsoever. I'll say that again: if you play this game, nothing horrible will pop up on screen at any point. Go ahead! Play it and see.
New Book: Big Shoes To Fill
Another @FlashFictionMonth has come and gone, and as always I have another Flash Fiction Month anthology to show for it. Behold my mastery of the slick, understated promotional video! If you want an ebook you can find those over here, and if you'd like a paperback then you can get those here (or via your local Amazon site if you're outside the UK). I think this year's stories have been particularly good so even if you don't have any of the other ten books forming a fancy double rainbow on your shelf right now, this isn't a bad place to start!
Witness Not the Watcher has a Daily Deviation!
Huge thanks to @SubjugatedSandwich for suggesting it! This wasn't a story I'd already thought up before starting Flash Fiction Month, but it was one that I felt was an idea I could really get behind rather than just one that would qualify as a story for the day. Ultimately I wasn't sure I quite managed to do what I wanted to within the 1,000 words, so this feature is a real boost! It also makes having stayed up until 5am finishing it seem more worthwhile. Before FFM2022 is entirely forgotten, I feel as though it might also be worth mentioning that although it seems a few people appear to have identified the correct door in Heed the Nineteen Hounds - @GDeyke, @SubjugatedSandwich, @WizardandGalaxy, and @squanpie amongst them - I'm not positive anybody's actually grasped the significance of the specific words that led them to it. If you feel like tackling a further challenge, you might try Googling it. ;)

That gif was extremely confusing for my flatmates when they glanced over my shoulder. Alarmingly, they didn't seem very surprised that I was looking at a leather-clad man flailing a pole at a swinging naked man.
