Deviation Actions
In a weird combination of planning way ahead and being really late, I'd like to let people know about an event I'm planning to organise for Flash Fiction Day (June 22nd): an event that GDeyke already let people know about an entire month ago. So while there's ages to go before the day itself, I've also been pretty slow to get this out there.
Or, as an alternative way of looking at it, this idea is so incredibly amazing that I didn't have a chance to get it out there first. Let's go with that.
It all started over on Twitter:
I've put a little thought into the practicalities of this, and I figure the main thing is to make sure that all the stories each writer produces can be read in one place. It seems the easiest way of doing that would be to just post one Flash Fiction Day deviation and keep adding stories with a note to say what time they were started and finished. That way nobody gets spammed with swarms of (probably) tiny stories, and anyone following in real time can check back and see what's new.
For simplicity and flexibility, I suggest doing this on local time. That'll mean that some people will be starting or finishing sooner or later than others, but since I don't expect everyone to go midnight to midnight anyway it shouldn't make too much difference. I expect there'll also be a fair bit of overlap between time zones, so everyone should have company while they're taking part.
If anyone's got any suggestions for this, I'd love to hear them. I'd also love to set up some kind of Flash Fiction Month style challenges for this, but that seems like something to think about closer to the time. Regardless of how the whole thing plays out, I expect this to be a fun event, and I'd especially recommend it to anyone who can't spare the time for a whole month of FFM or NaNoWriMo. I'm keen to see what people come up with!

It all started over on Twitter:
DamonWakes: Someday I want to see how many flashfic pieces I can write in 24 hours. Triple digits would be something to aim for, though they'd be short.
GDeyke: If you ever actually do this I'll be forced to join you: I can never refuse a ridiculous challenge.
DamonWakes: Okay, then. How about Flash Fiction Day: June 22nd? I should be free then, and it's far enough off we could rope in more people!
GDeyke: It is ON.Conveniently, that's also a pretty comprehensive description of the event: write as many flash fiction pieces as possible during the 24 hours of June 22nd. Just as a head's up, that's a Monday. However, it's worth mentioning that spending the entire 24 hours writing is probably not advisable, so there should be time in the day for everyone to have a go.

Super Hyper Awesome Game: EXTREME!
Okay, I've been absent from dA over the past couple of years to the extent that half the reason I'm posting this is to direct anyone who might be reading it to my website for big news or Mastodon for smaller updates, but the other half is that I have a new game for you to enjoy! It's Super Hyper Awesome Game: EXTREME! and if you can snag the top spot on the leaderboard before noon on April 2nd London time, you've got a chance at a free copy of Hollow Knight! Or you can just play it for funsies. It has heavy metal and possums. You'll like it. Honest.
New Game: Rainbow Bears Fun Maze
Hello! It's been a while since I last posted anything here on dA - for a few years now I've not been particularly active outside of Flash Fiction Month each July- but I figured I'd drop by just for today to let you know about a new game of mine: Rainbow Bears Fun Maze. This is a fun, pleasant game containing absolutely no jumpscares whatsoever. I'll say that again: if you play this game, nothing horrible will pop up on screen at any point. Go ahead! Play it and see.
New Book: Big Shoes To Fill
Another @FlashFictionMonth has come and gone, and as always I have another Flash Fiction Month anthology to show for it. Behold my mastery of the slick, understated promotional video! If you want an ebook you can find those over here, and if you'd like a paperback then you can get those here (or via your local Amazon site if you're outside the UK). I think this year's stories have been particularly good so even if you don't have any of the other ten books forming a fancy double rainbow on your shelf right now, this isn't a bad place to start!
Witness Not the Watcher has a Daily Deviation!
Huge thanks to @SubjugatedSandwich for suggesting it! This wasn't a story I'd already thought up before starting Flash Fiction Month, but it was one that I felt was an idea I could really get behind rather than just one that would qualify as a story for the day. Ultimately I wasn't sure I quite managed to do what I wanted to within the 1,000 words, so this feature is a real boost! It also makes having stayed up until 5am finishing it seem more worthwhile. Before FFM2022 is entirely forgotten, I feel as though it might also be worth mentioning that although it seems a few people appear to have identified the correct door in Heed the Nineteen Hounds - @GDeyke, @SubjugatedSandwich, @WizardandGalaxy, and @squanpie amongst them - I'm not positive anybody's actually grasped the significance of the specific words that led them to it. If you feel like tackling a further challenge, you might try Googling it. ;)

Despite time zone differences, I have already pledged to join you two.
A group seems complicated though. What if everyone made a journal that featured their own pieces, and then had links to other participants journals? That's more spread out, but also seems more user friendly. It also lets us/you gauge people's interest and could lead up to a group?
